Trailer Mechanic Supervisor/Lead

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of mechanics, ensuring high-quality repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform and oversee repairs and maintenance on trailers, focusing on:
  • Brake drums, bearings, and axles
  • Overhead doors and swing doors
  • Trailer parts, including S-Cams bushings and other components 
  • Roof and floorboards, crossmembers, and couplers
  • Roofing and all related components
  • Landing gear components
  • Side and body panels
  • Bottom and top rails
  • Ensure all trailers are serviced and repaired in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Conduct regular quality checks to guarantee all trailers are in top condition before leaving the shop.
  • Manage parts inventory, including tracking stock levels and identifying needs.
  • Assist in ordering parts, ensuring timely availability for ongoing projects.
  • Handle work orders, ensuring accurate and timely completion and documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to mechanics, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Shop Manager to coordinate repair schedules and priorities.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a trailer mechanic with in-depth knowledge of trailer components and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with landing gear components, side and body panels, bottom and top rails, and some welding and fabrication.
  • Prior supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to manage parts inventory and assist with parts ordering processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
